Take off the illiterate coat
With the continuous development of society, people's demand for culture is getting higher and higher. The state and many NGOs are also helping illiterate friends to take off this shell.

The society is developing rapidly and people are increasingly demanding culture. In life and at work, cultural knowledge has become a very important part, even a decisive factor. Many people with low levels of education often have no way to pursue a higher quality of life. In recent years, the state has become more and more demanding for cultural education. However, there are still a certain proportion of illiterate people in various provinces and cities in China. Some remote provinces and cities even have an illiteracy rate of one third of the province's population.
Therefore, the state has introduced relevant policies, and many social caring people are also doing their part. Through everyone's efforts, from 1982 to 2015, the literacy rate of Chinese adults from 65.5% to 96.4%, while the literacy rate of young people from 88.8% to 99.7%.
According to statistics, in 2017, among the illiteracy rates in various provinces and cities across the country, the illiteracy rate in the southern and northern cities is low, and the illiteracy rate in some cities in the east is moderate. The southwestern region is generally a province with high illiteracy rates, and its illiteracy rate is over 7.05%. Among them, Tibet and Guizhou Province are in the forefront, the illiteracy rate in Tibet is as high as 34.96%, and the illiteracy rate in Guizhou is the second, reaching 10.11%. In Guizhou Province, the ratio of people who have read-only primary or junior high schools is the highest, accounting for three-quarters of the province's population. The number of people who did not receive any education at all reached 9.70%, and the number of people who had attended college was only 8.80%, making them the lowest in the province.
Taihu Yu is a taxi driver in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. When he was a child, his family was poor, and he lost the opportunity to receive education because the tuition of three dollars could not be paid. Working outside the country for many years, he also deeply felt how terrible it is without cultural knowledge. But now he has no chance to re-educate, so he started his long book-raising campaign, raising books from all aspects of society, and giving them to children who need books and need to learn.
Taihu Yu has been collecting books for children in poor mountain areas since 2012, and it has been 8 years now. During this period, he established the Guizhou Zhongheng Aiding Center. However, their donation activities are not frequent, because his books are sourced from various relatives, friends and passengers. He is not rich in his own life. Without collecting enough books, he has no money to buy these books, and the activities cannot be carried out normally.
Taihu Yu said that more than 300 books to be collected each time can be sent to a mountain school. The tolls and fuel charges for the return trip are his own, so when he is going to the countryside primary school to send books, he will increase his working hours, driving taxi to earn fuel costs and Tolls. He is helping children who study hard but have poor families because he feels that these children should be well educated and believe that only learning can change their destiny.
In the past 8 years, he has raised a total of 120,000 books and 120,000 school supplies. With his funding, many rural primary schools and children have been helped, and more and more children have been admitted to college and successfully completed.
Haiga Primary School, located in Haiga Village, the highest altitude in Guizhou, is a very closed place, surrounded by mountains, and the traffic is not very convenient. Zheng Long, the principal of Haiga Primary School, said that in 2002, the village did not exist. There were very few residents nearby. After the Haiga Primary School was gradually improved, people slowly moved their houses to the mountains. The primary school was only a dozen people at the beginning, and the highest level was only in the third grade. The educational resources were particularly scarce.
With the help of the government and the caring people, Haiga Elementary School has gradually improved. Now the number of children studying at the school has increased to 106. Each student has an average of 20 books. The school has also set up a library, and also There are many instruments such as guitars and drums. The principal said that the children will take classes in the morning and afternoon. After school, the teacher will teach them music, and whenever there is an opportunity, the teacher will take the children out of the mountains to see them, give them the opportunity to perform on stage, and increase their self-confidence.
Haiga Elementary School now has an unwritten rule. As long as it is a passing vehicle, the children will stop and salute. As long as there are strangers coming to the school, the children will say "teacher good morning." Because there are many people who have helped this school, maybe the person passing by is the one who has helped the children, so the principal said that this rule is also to teach the children to know how to be grateful.

More than just Guizhou, there are still many people in the world who need help. The strength of a person is always limited. If everyone is willing to extend their hands to help those in need, the illiteracy rate in our country will be greatly reduced and the quality of the population will be higher and higher.
